Our Tall Grass Prairie Mixed Plant Tray features a dynamic assortment of native grasses and wildflowers selected to create the structure, color, and biodiversity of a thriving tallgrass prairie ecosystem. This expertly balanced mix provides year-round visual interest, habitat for pollinators and birds, and deep-rooted resilience to drought and poor soils.
 
Each tray includes four of the follwing species, known for their beauty, adaptability, and ecological value:
Pale Purple Coneflower (Echinacea pallida) – Graceful, drooping petals in soft purple hues that attract pollinators and add delicate texture.
Rattlesnake Master (Eryngium yuccifolium) – Distinctive spiky white blooms and bold foliage offer architectural interest.
Big Bluestem (Andropogon gerardii) – The iconic prairie grass, known as “turkey foot,” providing height, structure, and nesting cover for birds.
Yellow Coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) – Sunny, nodding blooms that sway gracefully in the wind and support native bees.
Compass Plant (Silphium laciniatum) – Tall and statuesque with sunflower-like blooms and deeply lobed foliage that orients to the sun.
New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) – A fall-blooming favorite, rich in nectar for migrating monarchs and late-season pollinators.
Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) – Compact, adaptable, and beautifully bronzed in fall, this grass offers year-round appeal and erosion control.
Dense Blazing Star (Liatris spicata) – Tall, bold purple flower spikes that bloom in succession from top to bottom, drawing in butterflies and other beneficial insects.
